Find Your Voice Kits Almost Gone!

Oh man, I just learned that the Find Your Voice kits are almost gone! I am so glad I grabbed my Insta-Kits last week (more with that later!).

Still remaining are the Embellishment Kit and the Main Kit:

Again, the beautiful thing about this class is that it is free. FREEEE. And you do not need anything special to participate! But I know there are those of us who just…like paper. And albums. And vellum hearts. And there’s nothing wrong with that! Go get ’em, ladies!

London 2015 Mini-Album

I was recently lucky enough to take a week-long trip to London. We crammed so much activity into that one week that I feel like I am still processing everything that happened, lol.

We took a day-tour to Windsor Castle, Bath, and Stonehenge; made a visit to the Warner Bros. studios for the Harry Potter experience; visited Hampton Court Palace; and then of course did the “in-town” tourist sites such as Kensington Palace, the British Museum (Rosetta Stone, bitches!), Big Ben and Winchester, etc. Not to mention our day-trip to Paris, France!!

The whole vacation was absolutely breathtaking (and not just because of the miles and miles we walked…11 miles in Paris alone). I love to travel, and have really only recently been in a position to do so regularly.

Obviously, for a trip as long as a week, I just had to make a mini-album. I had over 1,000 pictures! I knew it had to be big enough to hold plenty of pictures (and don’t even get me started on the physical memorabilia), so I went with a 6×8 album. The one I chose was a red faux leather one by Becky Higgins, but a couple different companies make 6×8 albums and page protectors.

I used felt to decorate the front in the design of the British flag. Working with felt is kind of a new thing for me, but I am proud of the way it turned out, and it wasn’t too difficult at all! Felt is pretty forgiving.

Find Your Voice 2015!

I am so super-stoked to announce that I will be both a Project Lesson Contributor and a Guest Instagrammer for rukristin’s Find Your Voice 2.0 class this summer! I am truly flattered, and can’t wait to make some great projects that help my fellow scrapbookers continue finding their “voice.”

This six-week workshop is entirely free, so you should absolutely go check it out. Can’t wait to see you all there!

Project Life: Week 27

Week 27 on

A clean and simple week. With a lot of green! I’m not really a fan of green, but hey…Central Park is green. What can ya do, lol?

I am still loving my typewriter. It gives layouts such a “clean” look, and I can fit more text on journaling cards than my over-sized and illegible handwriting would allow.

I do truly love this system of scrapbooking. It makes even MY life seem worthy of documenting, when you can just slap four pictures and one journaling card into some sleeves, LOL. And there’s always a little bit of room for creativity…if I’m in the mood, haha!

Project Life: Week 26

Week 26 on

Yes, I may be one of the worst bloggers ever, lol. But hey, I only do one Project Life layout per week, so I usually only have one real “craft” project to post per week! However, I am working on creating more…it always makes me feel relaxed and productive at the same time, which is a rare combination for me.

I am still running strong on this vellum kick. The “today is” section is some stamped vellum, embossed in white, and I loooove it.

For those who care, the job search is going…oddly, haha. I don’t have much else to say about that, but everyone wish me luck! Hopefully, whatever job I get doesn’t detract too much from my crafting time (which is mostly nights and weekends anyway).

Finally…A 6×8 Layout

Love 6x8 Layout on SBCC

Ugh it’s been so long since I made a layout (other than PL). I’ve been surprisingly busy since quitting my job! And yet somehow surprisingly…UN-creative. Only in the past seven days or so have I felt the least bit inspired.

I took that tiny bit of creative inspiration and made this 6×8 layout of my mom’s dog Mowgli on the beach here in NYC. Gold sure is hard to photograph, eh? I also got to use one of my new stamps (“this was”), and I am just in love with it. So versatile. I might make some more and put them up for sale in the shop, so if anyone has any interest, let me know!

Project Life: Week 24

Another week in the book(s). Week 24 was actually my birthday week, but the weather was so terrible that we didn’t get to do much! Oh well; we’re doing the true celebrating next weekend anyway. There will certainly be a post about that!
I am truly finding that the 6×8 format makes me feel more creative. Since I feel less pressured to “fill,” I am spending more time decorating (and that’s the fun part!).
And I just realized that I used an “xoxo!!!” card in last week’s spread, too, LOL. Eh, well. It was one of the few purple-ish cards I had, so it made it in.

This beautiful vellum overlay was inspired by I had actually made something similar a couple weeks ago with different text, but using the “i love” from the Project Life Sunshine kit hadn’t occurred to me, and it’s absolutely wonderful!

And here’s a close-up of that embossed Instagram-y camera. I have been saving that thing for a while, but it fit so perfectly here. And I have GOT to stop hoarding. So, into the book it goes.

I’m Still Alive: Week 23 Project Life

Soooo I’ve been pretty terrible at this blogging thing. But my life has been somewhat drastically altered recently in the sense that I quit my job. You know, the job I had for SEVEN YEARS. Sooo. That’s weird.
Anyway, as you can probably imagine, that’s given me a bit more free time with which to “perfect” my new 6×8 Project Life-ing, and to take photos and blog about it!

2014 PL: Week 23

On that note, here’s week 23’s spread. I try to stay as up-to-date as possible, because I get discouraged if I get behind. So, I dedicate time each Sunday to at least getting the pictures of the last week printed. That gives me something to “work with” through the next week or so, and I usually have one “spread” finished each week, though it may be from two weeks ago.

I am loving my decision to go to 6×8. Not worrying about “filling” a week leaves me more time to decorate photos and think about colors, etc. It’s been really…relieving, I guess. If you feel overwhelmed or discouraged or “not good enough” for Project Life, I strongly suggest the 6×8 format. It keeps things low-demand and high-fun!

TableTop Day 2014 8.5×11 Layout

You know how you have a layout pictures in your heads, and you’re like “OMG, great idea, Shayne?” And then you actually DO it, and you’re like “Ugh, WTF, Shayne?” That’s totally what happened with this layout, lol.
It’s not as bad (a couple weeks later) as I thought it was when I first finished it, but I still definitely feel like I have lost my “mojo,” as they say. I’m working on it. =o /

For those of you who don’t know what TableTop Day is, you can see more here: It was a great success at my house this year, with people making hours-long trips just to come and play games. I didn’t win a single one but…here’s a secret…I rarely do, haha! I’m just not competitive enough!

The people who did win games, however, got specially-made boxes of playing cards. And I was assured they were adorable, so at least I had one win that day, haha!
